Under the leadership of Roger L. Brandner, sheriff, and his deputy Gregory M. Bisch, the Wisconsin County Sheriff’s office commits to wholeheartedly serving the community. The Columbia County Sheriff’s department has a team of six detective sergeants, a patrol captain, and a detective, who collectively work to investigate criminal activities and offer arrest warrants. It’s the obligatory responsibility of the sheriff’s office to support and protect court staff. Guilty individuals sentenced to a jail term are often locked in the Columbia County Jail, which operates under the leadership of the County Sheriff’s department.

County Inmate Search  

Columbia County Jail & Huber Center is the primary incarceration center for holding high-risk inmates charged under Wisconsin state law. Located at 403 Jackson Street, Portage, WI, 53901, the facility houses adult inmates serving jail terms exceeding a year. This high-risk prison has three floors, with the first floor having special cells for holding high-profile criminals. The second floor is a securely reinforced housing for male inmates. The upper third floor has secure houses for holding female and male inmates.   

In total, the Columbia County jail has 165 bunks. The Huber Center built inside the prison has another 192 bunks. The facility offers a range of advanced laundry, recreation, medical, and kitchen services. The jail has 35 deputies, a lieutenant, a jail clerk, a captain, and four jail sergeants.
