About the County
Dodge county is a small country next to Milwaukee and Madison counties. The county was established in 1844 and named after It is rich in natural resources, with over thirty-one lakes and fifty rivers draining the county. One of the most notable physical features in the county is Horicon Marsh, the largest cattail marsh in the US.
Dodge county has a population of at least 89,396 people who form part of its human capital. Dodge consists of nine cities, 24 towns, and 11 villages with farm markets, orchids, and antique and craft shops. The people are rich culturally, with many community theaters, a center of art, golf courses, and sports and recreational centers. Residents can also enjoy horse races and horse races organized in the county.
Dodge county has been a great leader in agriculture producing cheese, barley, alfalfa, wood products, and ice fishing gear. The county is served by nine school boards and is the home to the world-famous University of Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Technical College System. It is accessible to the rest of the county via Highway 151 and Dodge County Airport.
About Dodge County Sheriff’s Office
Dodge county’s current Sheriff is Dale J Smidt, assisted by the chief deputy, Scott Mittel Stadt, and two captains. The Sheriff’s office is the chief law enforcement agent in the county. The Sheriff’s office is divided into two divisions that the respective captains lead. The captains are each assisted by lieutenants. The operation lieutenant is assisted by three shift patrol lieutenants, criminal investigations lieutenant, and a communications/support lieutenant. Two jail lieutenants support the jail captain.
Dodge county’s patrol division is among the largest divisions in the Sheriff’s office. It is divided into three shifts led by a lieutenant and assisted by sergeants and a handful of deputies. The patrol division is charged with traffic enforcement and is the first unit you will meet in response to complaints and investigations into law violations.
The officer at the Sheriff’s office has been well trained to meet national standards and to ensure professionalism in their line of work. Several specialized programs equip officers with more skills to work with the community. The officers are dedicated and available 24/7 in all emergencies to ensure that all community members are safe.
The role of technology has also been at the forefront of the Sheriff’s office as the offices have cutting-edge technology that is utilized in every instance, especially by the officer in the field. Some common technologies incorporated in the department are in-car computers, mobile data computers, audio/video recording equipment, compact radar units, preliminary breathalyzer tests, and a radar trailer. The Sheriff’s office is equipped with modern vehicles that work on the peculiar county terrain. In particular, the Sheriff’s office has had 17-foot aluminum boats since 2004 to help patrol the county’s lakes and other water regions. There are also two snowmobiles and ATVs for various scenarios.

Under the Sheriff’s office is the corrections division, which manages Dodge County Jail. The jail was created to house male and female inmates arrested by different agencies around the county, either awaiting trial or sentencing.
