Under the leadership of Sheriff Tammy Sternard, the Door County Sheriff’s department vows to safeguard lives, provide safe living conditions, and uphold the rule of law. The Sheriff’s department has well-trained, dedicated women and men from different parts of the county, committed to providing quality law enforcement services. They’re well-trained and equipped to prevent & reduce crimes while improving the safety and welfare of residents.  

The Door County’s Wisconsin Sheriff’s Office engages the community in all developments and service delivery programs, something that has made the county the best destination for tourists and residents. Everyone working in this office is obligated to observe accountability and performance ethics.  

The command staff comprises the Sheriff, chief deputy, professional standards captain, jail lieutenant, and field services lieutenant. This multidimensional Sheriff’s sub-division comprises a fully-trained drug, digital forensic examiner, and sergeant investigators. Under Door County’s Sheriff’s department are multifaceted specialty teams dealing with varied subjects to improve the lives and welfare of residents. These include class investigation, drone department, dive team, snowmobile patrol, SWAT team, marine unit, and crisis intervention team.   

Lastly, the treatment diversion court handles all residents’ drug abuse and addiction problems. The Pathways adult voluntary diversion program offers quality support to addicts looking to stop drug use through high-quality treatment solutions. Bridgeways for Youth is a program designed to help juveniles turn a new leaf through educational programs and case management.
