Fond Du Lac is a county in Wisconsin state. Its county seat is Fond Du Lac. The county was created in 1836 and launched in 1844. The name of the county means “fartherst end of a lake.”

It’s a name that relates to the county’s location in the southern section of Lake Winnebago. Most of the regions in the county all fall in the Metropolitan Statistical Area. The county’s politics is mainly on the Republican side because the county started in Ripon. The main cities in the country include Ripon, Waupun, and Fon Du Lac. The location of the county is also at the base of the largest lakes in the country. These include Madison, Green Bay, and Milwaukee.

The first noteworthy individual to live in the county was Laurent Ducharme. He was a French trader who lived in the county between 1785 to 1788. His presence encouraged the settlement of other early settlers, including Spanish Traders and Clerks.

Sherriff’s Department

The Fon Du Lac Sheriff’s department is the primary policing agent in the region. It serves the role of safeguarding its residents and their property. Part of this role involves performing the following functions:

  • Patrolling all regions that fall within Fon Du Lac County.
  • Enforcing court orders such as repossessions, warrants, and arrests.
  • Fostering health relationships between the community, inmates, and law enforcement agents.
  • Providing SWAT services to the county.

History

The history of Fon Du Lac County dates back to when it was first built in 1846. It was initially a courthouse, where the first floor of the building served as the jail. However, the building later broke down, and the state created new jail. The new jail would feature a place for the Sheriff to live and work. The building would serve as the Sheriff’s department until 1959 when the state created a new facility.

In 2005, the facility went through various renovation procedures. It included the remodeling of offices and the development of a training room. It also includes updating the jail, featuring significant security system improvements. It was a process that helped increase the jail capacity from 149 to 300 beds. However, the department also has places in place for further expansion.

The department is responsible for running an area that features up to 730 square miles. The region features over 20 towns and serves up to 100,000 citizens. The department also works with other law enforcement agencies to help make the region safer. Currently, the department also features over 140 employees and 70 patrol officers.

Access to these details is readily available to the public. However, the state has various regulations that help ensure that this information is only available for ethical purposes.

The prison primarily uses the Vine Link Notification service to relay information about inmates. It’s a free, anonymous, online service that offers crime victims inmate records.

The department records various types of information about inmates. It can include information on inmate location, visitation, contacts, and details on offenses.

However, while these records are always available to the public, it often takes time for the prison department to process. The state’s details on inmates are also publicly available as part of an individual’s criminal background.

Inmate Data Processing

The inmate data processing function involves various factors. Once an inmate gets released from jail, the state uploads their information to secondary records. These can include the arrest or sex offender records. The Fon Du La county Sheriff’s department is the entity responsible for managing these records.
