Lafayette County, WI, is located southwest of Wisconsin, occupying 634 square miles of the rocky Driftless Region of the state. The county neighbors are Grant County, Green County, Iowa County, Stephenson County, IL, and Jo Daviess County, IL. Its history dates back to 1846, when a group of high-class residents settled in the region. They engaged in mining, agricultural, and dairy development to make the county one of the richest per capita in the United States. Today, Lafayette County, WI, boasts lots of popular attractions, including the Yellowstone Lake State Park, and Gravity Hill. 

The county is named after Marquis de Lafayette, a former French general and a Revolutionary War hero. More so, Darlington is the county seat for Lafayette County, WI. And at least six major highways cut across the county. Other amenities include schools, hospitals, eateries, and farmers’ markets.

The Sheriff’s Office has forums that encourage real conversations about drug use and abuse amongst family members. More so, it educates the public on how to use drugs safely, safe disposal of unused medication, and the correct way to respond to and reverse the effects of an opioid overdose.  

6. Animal Care Business Licensing 

The Sheriff’s Department enforces the Lafayette County Ordinance 7-1-1.13f – Animal Regulations and Treatment of Animals. Through it, anyone keeping pets for commercial purposes must apply for an annual permit and allow law enforcement officers to inspect the facilities and confirm compliance with the ordinance.
