Milwaukee County is a county situated in the U.S state of Wisconsin. The county was founded in 1834 as part of Michigan Territory and was organized the following year. The county is named after the Milwaukee River, and its adjacent counties include Ozaukee County, Racine County, Waukesha County, Washington County, and Lake Michigan.

Milwaukee County is both the most populous and most densely populated county in Wisconsin and the 45th populous county nationwide. According to the 2010 census, 947,735 people, 383,591 households, and 221,019 families resided in the county. Moreover, the population density is 3,932 people per square mile (1,528km), while there are 418,053 housing units at an average density of 1,734 per square mile (674km). In addition, the racial makeup of Milwaukee County was 60.6% white, 26.8% Black, 0.7% Native American, 3.4% Asian, 0.003% Pacific Islander, 5.4% from other races, and 3% from two or more races. In comparison, 13.3% of the population was Hispanic or Latino of any race.

Geographically, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1189 square miles (3080km), whereby land takes 241 square miles (620km), and water occupies 948 square miles (2460km) (80%). The county is the third-smallest county in Wisconsin by land area and is watered by the Milwaukee, Menomonee, Kinnickinnic, and Root rivers.

Milwaukee County is led by an eighteen-member Board of Supervisors and by an elected county executive. The county supervisors, county executive, and the county comptroller govern in nonparties elections, while other countrywide officials such as the district attorney and sheriff run in partisan elections. In addition, there are ten municipalities in the county, ten incorporated as cities, and nine incorporated as villages.

Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office

Milwaukee County sheriff’s office is situated at 821 W state Street Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It is the law enforcement agency that serves the citizens in the county. The office offers law enforcement services for the county’s courthouse, freeways, criminal justice facility, the county-owned Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport, and the 156 Milwaukee county parks systems. Earlier, the office was one of Wisconsin’s largest sheriff’s departments, with a total of 750 deputy sheriffs. By 2015 the agency reduced the number of sworn individuals to approximately 300. The number was reduced due to the hiring of correction officers and no longer needed deputies in the county jail. Currently, Earnell R.Lucas heads the sheriff’s office, elected by the public as a Democrat, while the agency executive is Chief Deputy Denita R.Ball. You can contact the sheriff’s office to obtain more information, such as sheriff’s office sales and criminal activity, county jail records, and mug shots.

The sheriff’s office has various divisions that work together to serve citizens in Milwaukee County. The four divisions Bureau include:

Police Services Bureau

Apart from the countrywide patrol services, the police services bureau oversees the Airport division, drug enforcement, explosive ordinance disposal/bomb unit, civil process unit, TEU, motorcycle unit, and K9 operations. Moreover, the court’s division has been incorporated into the police services bureau and offers bailiff services for Wisconsin’s most extensive court system.

Detention Services Bureau

The Detention Service Bureau is in charge of inmate health, food services, transportation, inmate housing, property, jail records, visiting, classification, central booking records, and warrants.

Administrative Service Bureau

The Administrative Services Bureau has the open records division central records unit, media relations, clerical staff, traffic desk, and special events.

Patrol Division

The patrol division is responsible for patrolling any unincorporated areas of the county as foreclosures, tax delinquencies, and repossessions. In addition, the division is a law enforcement agency that promotes public safety in the county through public policing and managing county jails and inmates.

Milwaukee County Inmate Search

You can perform a free inmate search by visiting the inmate locator website provided by Milwaukee County. To locate an inmate online, you must provide the inmate’s full name and ID number. However, you can narrow the search results with an address, Gender, age, race, DOC, or year of birth. The results display a list with each inmate’s offender’s name, date of birth, county, zip code, mug shot, aliases, Current location, court cases, photos, bookings, arrests, bonds, charges, date of release, and all moves within the incarceration system.

Alternatively, if you cannot obtain the information you want, you can call the Milwaukee County jail at 414-226-7050 or send a fax. On the other hand, for crime victims, you can create a Wisconsin Victim Notification system to receive alerts concerning an offender. The WI Statewide VINE system allows the victims of crime to receive notification from an email or telephone, TTY, and text message when an inmate’s status changes. For any inquiries, you can contact the VINE toll-free number for the WI statewide, 888-868-4631. The VINE s convenient as you can access it 24 hours a day to obtain the most reliable information for custody status changes and criminal case information. In addition, any details you provide to the link are strictly confidential and never shared with anyone outside VINE services or used for any purpose other than to offer the VINE services, including notification of offender custody status changes and criminal case information upon request.

You could also use third-party websites to conduct your inmate searches. However, since the government does not sponsor these websites, the sites do not guarantee that the information will be accurate or up to date.
