All county jails are under the management of the Sheriff’s Office. You can obtain information regarding an incarcerated loved one by visiting the jail’s search page on the jail’s official website. You only need to provide the inmate’s full name to begin a search. However, additional details like ID, gender, and date of birth can help narrow your search.

Alternatively, you can utilize authorized inmate search websites to locate your loved one. These sites usually require you to provide the inmate’s name and location.

State Prison Inmate Search

If you cannot locate an inmate at the county jail, the facility probably transfers them to state prison after trial. State prisons usually house inmates serving longer sentences under the custody of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections. This agency allows you to search for an inmate using the Offender Information tool. You can perform a free inmate search by the inmate’s full name and identification number if known.
