Wood County in Wisconsin was founded in 1856 and was named for Joseph Wood, a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly. Although Marshfield is the county’s largest city, the county seat is in Wisconsin Rapids. Wood County is a part of the Wausau-Stevens Point-Wisconsin Rapids, WI Combined Statistical Area, and the Wisconsin Rapids-Marshfield, WI Micropolitan Statistical Area.

According to the 2020 census reports, there were 74,207 people, and it became a swing county in 2000 after being a republican county.

The county has an area of 809 square miles, with 793 sq. mi. of land. Wood County is home to Wisconsin’s geographic center, nine miles southeast of Marshfield. Two of Wisconsin’s five geographical regions are covered by Wood County. The county’s northern section lies in the Northern Highlands, with largely productive agriculture with hard clay soil utilized for agriculture, the flat, swampy Central Plain, and the sandy southern portion.

Wood County Inmate Search

All inmates arrested in Wood County and unable to pay bail or bond are transferred to the Wood County Jail located at 400 Market St, Wisconsin Rapids, WI 54494, United States. This included individuals charged with state, federal or county laws. WCSO manages and runs this jail. It also collects, maintains, and updates these individuals’ information on a special register, the jail roster.

Again the Wisconsin Public Records Act mandates all of the information the office collects to be made public, which the public can easily access. However, without a court order, you may not find juvenile, sealed, or expunged information on this register.

How To Find An Inmate Using The Wood County Jail Roster

Performing a wood county inmate search using the jail roster is very simple as you need the inmate’s name you seek to find. You can locate the inmate’s name on the list and tap on it. It will expand into another page where you can see the inmate’s mugshot and personal information. Again, if you do not know their name, you can always locate inmates with the same features as your inmate, and you might be able to figure them out on their mugshots, tattoos, or other physical appearances.

However, since the register is not regularly updated, you might not find the inmate using the roster.

How To Locate An Inmate Who Is Not On The Jail Roster

If the inmate is not on the register, it means that the register is not up-to-date, or the inmate has not yet arrived in the jail or completed the booking process. Nonetheless, you can phone the prison at 715-421-8730 and tell the receiver you need to find an inmate.

Another solution is searching for the inmate in person at the county jail. You can communicate with the officer in the jail lobby, and they will direct you to where you can perform an inmate search.

If this fails, conduct a Wisconsin DOC offender database by name.

How To Locate A Sex Offender

To find a sex offender in the county, you can visit the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry and search by name and geographical location. You can also contact WCSO and request records on sex offenders.
